A RESOLUTION AFFIRMING THE APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY THE CITY MANAGER’S DESIGNEE TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FOR A COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES (COPS) PROGRAM GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE HUDSON POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Brief Description: The COPS Office Stop School Violence: School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) provides funding to improve security, including the acquisition and installation of technology for expedited notification of local law enforcement during an emergency. SVPP funding covers up to 75 percent or $500,000.00 of approved awards. Estimated grant request is $400,000.00. A 25% match is required.

Purpose & Explanation
Staff is seeking funding from the U.S. Department of Justice through a Community Oriented Policing Services Program Grant to assist with funding a 911 system and radio consoles for the City of Hudson’s Public Safety Answering Point. Estimated cost of the grant eligible portion of equipment is $706,000.00, based on the Needs Assessment and Strategic Plan prepared by MCM Consulting, Inc.
