A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS AND TO ENTER INTO CONTRACTS FOR THE INTERIOR RENOVATION OF THE EXISTING FIRE AND EMS BUILDING AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF A DETACHED GARAGE LOCATED AT 40 S. OVIATT STREET WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
Brief Description: This Resolution would authorize the advertisement, receipt of bids and award of contracts for the interior renovation of the existing Fire and EMS Building as well as the construction of an outbuilding for use by the Fire Department located at 40 S. Oviatt Street.

Purpose & Explanation
As part of the implementation of 24-hour staffing for the Fire Department, several critical facility improvements are necessary to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and long-term functionality.
The project will be divided into two separate contracts for bidding purposes. The 1st phase of the contract will be advertised first to allow the City to have 24/7 staffing by the summer of 2026. This phase will address renovations to the existing building, including the addition of new dormitories, critical safety upgrades to bring the facility into compliance with current codes, modernization of kitchens and day rooms, restroom updates, and essential HVAC and electrical system upgrades.
