Purpose & Explanation
The City of Hudson received a resident request for the installation of NO PARKING signs along E. Barlow Road between Ogilby Drive and Terex Road. During events at Barlow Farm Park, on-street parking along this section of roadway decreases site lines and increases the chance of accidents. The installation of these signs would eliminate on-street parking in this area to help maintain site lines and reduce the chance of accidents.
In October 2022 the City finished a traffic safety study of N. Hayden Parkway. The study, by TMS Engineers, included recommendations to improve both vehicle and pedestrian safety along N. Hayden Parkway between Hudson Aurora Street and E. Streetsboro Street. The study recommended installing NO PARKING signs at the school entrances, on the west side of N Hayden to ensure that adequate site distances are maintained during school hours when traffic is most congested. The signs would be placed at a distance approximately 100-feet from each driveway (See attached Exhibit).
Staff sent letters requesting input to those residents directly impacted by the installation of NO PARKING signs at each location. Those residents that responded were in favor of the sign installation.
