Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH GRINDLINE SKATEPARKS, INC. FOR DESIGN SERVICES FOR THE SKATEPARK RENOVATIONS PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

Executive Summary: The Parks Department budget includes the replacement of the existing skate park located on Veterans Way.  This resolution seeks authorization for the City Manager to enter into contract with Grindline Skateparks Inc. for professional design services for the park.

Body the

Legislative History

Veterans Way Park skatepark was originally installed in 2005. The current above ground wooden structures have exceeded their life span and are in need or replacing.

Purpose & Explanation

The skatepark at Veterans Way Park is in need of replacement. A request for proposal to design the new park was sent out. Two qualified companies responded. Both designers, Grindline Skateparks and American Ramp Company responded with proposals. Both firms met the RFP requirements and the specified design standards for the project. We recommend that Grindline Skateparks Inc., 4619 14th Ave SW, Seattle WA 98166  be awarded with the lowest bid of $25,865.00.

Grindline Skateparks - $25,865.00

American Ramp Company - $26,3360.00

Timing Considerations

We would like to award the design immediately to meet the final design date of January 31, 2019. This will help ensure that the park is built by July 31, 2019 to still have skating weather for the season.

Fiscal Impact

X     Currently Budgeted.

                       Supplemental Appropriation Required.

                       Appropriation Not Required.
