Brief Description: The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is accepting applications for Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Plan update assistance. If selected, ODOT would hire a consultant, on behalf of the city, to update the City's current Safe Routes to School Travel Plan from 2011.

Purpose & Explanation
The Ohio Department of Transportation's (ODOT's) Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program provides resources, technical assistance and project funding for Local Public Agencies (LPAs) and school systems to encourage and enable students in grades K-8 to safely walk or ride their bike to school. For a city to be eligible to apply for funds, the community must develop a comprehensive School Travel Plan that identifies both infrastructure and non-infrastructure safety improvements, countermeasures, and educational programs.
The City of Hudson's School Travel Plan was last updated in 2011. In order for the City to be eligible to apply for future infrastructure projects and non-infrastructure programs listed within the School Travel Plan, the plan needs to be updated every 5 years. The City is eligible to apply for assistance from ODOT to update the plan. Applications are due by March 4, 2022.
If awarded, ODOT will hire and manage a consultant to update the School Travel Plan. City staff will provide information, develop a team, and work with ODOT on plan development. The LPA further agrees to pay One Hundred Percent (100%) of any extra cost authorized by the City over and above the work provided by the State of Ohio, Department of Transportation to update the School Travel Plan.
