19-0056 - Discussion on Adaptive Signal Technology; 6/11/2019
19-92 - Solicit Design Proposals for Stage 1 of Adaptive Signals; 7/9/2019
Purpose & Explanation
The City's consultant, TMS Engineers Inc., has completed the 1st Phase of the above study which included: Evaluating the existing traffic signals; controller equipment; and signal timings along SR 303 and SR 91 through the downtown corridor and any necessary improvements.
The City staff and TMS Engineers will present the findings and recommendations following the 1st Phase of the project. (See the attached study - SR 91/SR 303 Traffic Signal Timing Analysis - Phase 1, dated March 3, 2020.).
Agenda for the Meeting on March 10, 2020:
* The City staff will summarize the previous study dated 5-21-2019 and the three-step process.
* TMS Engineers will present the results of the recently completed Traffic Signal Timing Analysis - Phase 1 along SR 91 and SR 303.
* TMS Engineers will also be present to answer any questions on the adaptive signal technology.
* The City staff will discuss the next recommended steps and timelines and implementations.
Timing Considerations
If City Council approves the administration to perform Phase 2 (Medium Costs) which includes the adaptive traffic signal design and construction work, the City staff will begin the design in 2020, with the construction in 2021. (See page 55 of the City-Wide Adaptive Signal Study, dated 5-21-2019).
UPDATE: The 3rd Phase which includes the remaining signals within Hudson (i.e. The former Township areas) were submitted to the Akron Metro. Area Transportation Study (AMATS) for funding under either CMAQ or STBG in 2019 and were not approved for fundin...
