In July 2013 Council authorized staff to participate in the completion of the Plan and made appointments to the planning committee.
Purpose & Explanation
In 2007 the Hudson entered into an agreement with other Brandywine Creek watershed communities to form a partnership and draft a plan for the watershed. A plan was drafted in 2010 and received preliminary approval from the Ohio Lake Erie Commission. To receive final approval, the draft plan needed to be amended. The effort to complete the plan was renewed early in 2013. The Partnership has completed the plan and is now seeking the endorsement of watershed communities as required for final approval.
The complete plan was provided to Council under separate cover as was an information sheet on the benefits of the plan. We attach the executive summary of the plan and the information sheet here as well as the draft resolution.
In very brief summary:
* The goal of the plan is to contribute to the protection and restoration of Lake Erie and its watersheds, yet support sustainable economic development.
* Approval of the plan entitles watershed communities to technical advice and financial incentives.
* Neither the plan nor the adopting resolution obligates the City beyond considering enhancements to its regulations and collaborating with watershed communities.
Timing Considerations
Staff is hopeful that Council will take final action by mid-February so that the Ohio Lake Erie Commission, which has final approval authority over the plan, will have Hudson's and the other watershed community's endorsements when i...
