Purpose & Explanation
Lowell Ellsworth Smith was an accomplished painter whose Western art is highly esteemed and can be found in galleries in Santa Fe and throughout the Southwest.

Lowell Ellsworth Smith was a longtime Hudson resident, residing at 152 Elm Street, where he lived and contributed to the community for decades. He was the founder of the Hudson Society of Artists, taught at his studio at Turner's Mill during the 1980's and had a studio at 147 Bard Drive during the late 1990's and early 2000's.

The two paintings will be displayed in the lobby of Hudson City Hall along with a commemorative plaque recognizing the artist and their donors.

The City of Hudson wishes to accept this donation, and the Council wishes to express its sincere appreciation to the Hudson Society of Artists.
