Purpose & Explanation
Bids were received on Friday, October 10, 2014 for the SR 8 Concrete Pavement Repairs Project. Below is the Engineer's Estimate along with the respective bids.
Engineer's Estimate: $53,968.00
Perk Company, Inc. $79,420.00
Due to the bid coming in 10% over the Engineer's Estimate, the City Administration is requesting a motion to reject the above bid and rebid this work in early 2015 in conjunction with the annual 2015 Concrete Replacement Program. The reason for the limited amount of bids and higher costs, is based on the large amount of work contractor's in the area have at this time of the year which increases the cost and the amount of available bidders. By bidding in early 2015 for this work, staff believes will remedy these issue. The Public Works Department will monitor the deficiencies and make any necessary repairs this winter. We expect this work to be completed by June, 2015.
Timing Considerations
This work will be rebid in 2015 as part of the Concrete Replacement Program.
