In 2018, the City adopted Codified Ordinance Chapter 1421, “Erosion and Sediment Control”, in order to comply with the EPA’s requirements.  As the Ohio EPA has updated its NDPES requirements, the City must amend its Chapter 1421 to meet the latest EPA’s standards.

Purpose & Explanation

Codified Ordinance Chapter 1421, “Erosion and Sediment Control” identifies technically feasible and economically reasonable standards to meet the EPA’s NPDES requirements.  The ordinance identifies construction related practices that achieve a level of erosion and sediment control that will minimize damage to property and degradation of water resources and wetlands and will promote and maintain the health and safety.  The regulation allows development while minimizing increases in erosion and sedimentation and reduce water quality impacts to receiving water resources and wetlands that may be caused by new development or redevelopment activities.

In 2022, the Ohio EPA updated is NDPES requirements.  The amendment to Codified Ordinance 1421 addresses the new EPA requirements.  Revisions to the ordinance are identified in red in the attached, draft ordinance.
