Purpose & Explanation
Bids were opened on March 10, 2013 for the Demolition and Hazardous Material Removal at the Former Youth Development Center on Hines Hill Road. The City received 7 valid bids. Chieftain Trucking & Excavating was the apparent low bidder, but was permitted to withdraw its bid due to leaving out some major costs.
Following the review of the lowest bidder, by the City’s Engineer’s Office and the City’s Engineering Consulting Firm, Environmental Design Group (EDG), a pre-award meeting was held with Baumann Enterprises, Inc. on April 15, 2013 and based on the recommendation of EDG (see attached letter), we recommend Baumann Enterprises, Inc. be awarded the bid for the Former Youth Development Center Hazardous Materials Removal and Demolition Project.
