Purpose & Explanation
The City of Hudson utilizes the Ohio Department of Transportation Pavement Condition Index (PCI) System to rate the streets. The City attempts to rate all asphalt streets every two years. This system provides a rating system from 0 - 100 (100 being the best). Most streets in the City that are scheduled to be resurfaced fall within a range of a 30-55 rating. Generally, streets with the worst ratings get put to the top of the list.
The City received 2 quotes for road assessment, detailed as follows:
Pavement Management Group (PMG): $27,500.00
Vialytics - $23,792/year with a required 3-year contract totaling $71,376.00
The City has been working with Pavement Management Group (PMG) since 2014. PMG conducts thorough evaluations of asphalt road surfaces, analyzing pavement issues such as cracks, potholes, rutting, and surface deterioration. This data is collected via high-definition videos and summarized in a report and map system that is used to help develop the annual asphalt resurfacing programs.
