Resolution No. 24-149 A Resolution Authorizing the City Manager, During the year 2025 to advertise for bids or to utilize the various charter-authorized governmental competitive purchasing programs and entering into contracts for construction materials, supplies, services, and equipment.
Purpose & Explanation
Annually, as part of the Water Resources preventative maintenance program, one of the five water wells is taken out of service for rehabilitation. This work typically includes a pre-maintenance performance test, removal and inspection of the pumping equipment, mechanical cleaning of the well, televising the well casing, replacing worn pump components, reinstalling the refurbished pumping assembly, and conducting final pumping performance tests. Funding for this maintenance is budgeted each year to ensure the continued reliability and efficiency of the well system.
In 2025, 2 bids were received for the well rehabilitation work. Moody's of Dayton of Miamisburg, Ohio was the low bidder with a price of $54,500 to perform the routine maintenance.
After completing the mechanical cleaning portion of the project, the contractor observed an unusual amount of debris filling the well cavity. During inspection, they noted that the debris level aligned with the junction between the stainless-steel screen and the carbon-steel casing.
