Purpose & Explanation
The Information Services (IS) department was asked to summarize the current broadband infrastructure and determine future needs. The attached presentation is summarized in three categories:
1. History of City fiber connections
2. Current plans and projects
3. Future plans, possible uses and related cost estimates
The future plans are presented in a five year implementation format (2015-2019).
Timing Considerations
There are plans currently underway for projects in 2014. Costs related to the broadband infrastructure expansion would be built into future budgets.

Suggested Action
No formal action is required by City Council at this time. Staff is requesting Council feedback on the plan as well as direction on future possible uses.
