Purpose & Explanation
The purpose for proposing a city wide trash and recycle pick-up program under a private contract for the City consists of the following goals:
* Reduce overall service costs for City residents
* Reduce trash truck traffic in City neighborhoods
* Reduce the number of days a week trash and recycle material can be collected
* Practice responsible environmental stewardship

The EAC has completed a citizen survey to establish a better understanding of how Hudson residents feel about the City potentially moving to a private trash hauler contract. The data results of the survey have been summarized and the Committee wishes to make a recommendation that the City contract with a single hauler private trash and recycle company for weekly residential service.

Upon direction from City Council the EAC will work with the City to develop RFP's for specific services and return to Council to pass an ordinance and award a contract to the lowest and best bidder for said services.

An informational power-point presentation has been attached for review and discussion purposes.
