Purpose & Explanation
The scope of this project involves the lining of approximately 2315 feet of 8 inch sanitary sewers, and 210 feet of 42 inch storm sewer.
The sanitary sewers that will be lined are located on Hudson St., N. Oviatt St., N. Hayden St., and Old Orchard. The existing sanitary sewers were constructed with vitrified clay pipe and are in poor condition. The sanitary pipe is fractured in a number of locations and pipes have significant infiltration issues as well as offset joints which could contribute to main line blockage. The selected lines are within the high inflow and infiltration areas ""J" & "L" as determined by the 2014 sanitary sewer study. The City reviewed the current videos of these areas and found the above lines to have the highest need of repair, but are still in a condition to allow lining.
The storm sewer being lined is corrugated metal pipe located east of Gibson Ct. and is being lined due to poor overall condition and lack of access. The City made a major repair to this line in 2014, this is the continuation of the necessary repairs to eliminate the constant maintenance due to sink holes and possible future failure of the pipe.
Timing Considerations
Following the approval of this Resolution by City Council, the Engineering Department will advertise in the local newspaper and receive bids for the project. Following the bid opening we will return to City Council to award the contract to the lowest and best bidder.
