Title

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1048.02 OF THE STREETS, UTILITIES AND PUBLIC SERVICES CODE TO CORRECT AN OVERSIGHT IN THE 2015 AMENDMENT TO THE RATE SCHEDULES FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

Body

Legislative History

Ordinance No. 15-58, entitled “AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 1048.02 AND 1048.04 OF THE STREETS, UTILITIES AND PUBLIC SERVICES CODE TO ADOPT AN ADJUSTED ELECTRIC RATE STRUCTURE AND SCHEDULE OF CHARGES,” passed on May 19, 2015.

Purpose & Explanation

As Hudson Public Power Electric rates were being studied, and recommendations developed, the City’s project consultants Courtney & Associates had recommended that the City allow commercial- small customers to be billed at the commercial-large demand rate if it was financially advantageous for the business to do so.  The final ordinance language did not allow for such flexibility. As such, language restricting such flexibility needs to be removed from the ordinance.  Please see attachment indicating the specific language to be removed.

NOTE:  This amendment does NOT change any electric rates in any service category.

Timing Considerations

Staff recommends emergency legislation to expedite the amendment as soon as possible.
