Executive Summary: Due to some unforeseen circumstances that arose during construction of the Barlow Farm Park parking lot, the construction costs for the parking lot went over the 10% contingency amount and several areas of the existing driveway will need restored.

Purpose & Explanation
During construction of the Barlow Farm Park parking lot, additional expenses were incurred above and beyond the 10% contingency amount originally approved by Council. The additional expenses were needed for the additional full-depth pavement repairs, increased pavement depth & the area of the parking lot, along with the restoration of several areas within the driveway that were not able to carry the loads of the asphalt trucks to the parking lot site. Note: The Contractor utilized multiple 3-4 axle trucks to lessen the impact to the driveway.
Original cost for the Barlow Farm Park parking lot was $ 244,272.84 + $24,427.28 (10% Contingency) = $ 268,700.12 (Parks Fund).
Additional amount to contingency for parking lot construction = $2,515.00.
Additional amount of repairs to the existing driveway = $ 30,000.00.
The total amount that City Staff is requesting for this change order is $32,515.00
Timing Considerations
Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will issue a Change Order to the contract with Ronyak Paving, Inc. for the Barlow Farm Park parking lot and driveway repairs.
