Purpose & Explanation
ODOT will be administering this fund for the Ohio Turnpike Commission. ODOT has a process that allows local public agencies (LPA) to administer projects that will use State or Federal funding. The process requires the LPA to enter into an agreement with ODOT for this process. The agreement requires the LPA to follow the State process for the contract. The LPA process allows for more local control of the design, and construction.

This project is partially being funded via a grant from the Turnpike Mitigation Program which received funding in the spring, 2015. The project will be split 80%/20% max./min. (State/City). The current award for this project is $355,000 and the City is responsible for all costs above the grant amount. (Estimated total cost of the project =$425,000.)

The project includes the design, property acquisition and the construction of a new storm water pond on Brandywine Creek upstream of the Ohio Turnpike. The project will be designed to provide the maximum storm water storage on the land space available which has been calculated at approximately 2 to 3 acres. The new pond will alleviate flooding at downstream properties adjacent to Brandywine Creek and reduce flow velocities, thereby reducing the rate of downstream erosion in the channel. The project will also provide a water quality feature which may include an enhanced floodplain and/or wetland habitat whic...
