Purpose & Explanation
In 2007, the City of Hudson purchased nine leaf vacuum units to begin a citywide leaf removal program. The units have performed well and were originally planned to last nine years. The last several years as the equipment has aged, repairs have become more complex and costly. Staff wishes to begin replacing the units to ensure the continuation of a successful program. Staff hopes to replace two leaf vacuum units annually for the next four years to renew the fleet.
Staff has secured National Joint Powers Alliance Pricing (Contract # 060612-ODB) and each unit can be purchased for $49,322.50. For two units, the total will be $98,645.00. Please see the included cost estimate for additional details. Staff budgeted $110,000 from the Service Fund for these replacements.
Timing Considerations
Staff requests emergency legislation to hold pricing and expedite the equipment order to have leaf vacuums delivered prior to the fall leaf season.
