Purpose & Explanation
The traffic Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Hudson provides for parking restrictions on all City streets. The current regulation prohibits on street parking from the hours of 2:00am to 6:00am. The code does not include public parking facilities.
The City has recently experienced unwarranted and unwanted overnight and long-term parking at City parking facilities, particularly the First and Main parking deck. Staff is requesting amendments to the Traffic Code to prohibit overnight and long-term parking by restricting the hours of public parking at City parking facilities from 3:00am to 6:00am. This time frame recommendation takes into consideration those downtown businesses that operate until 2:30am.
Timing Considerations
Upon Council approval staff will order and install the necessary signage for the parking deck structure and affected public property parking areas.
