Body

Legislative History

Ordinance No. 09-12, creating an Ellsworth Meadows Golf Advisory Board and providing duties therefor (adopted 1/21/2009).

Ordinance No. 09-35, amending Section 1070.01 to provide terms for the GAB citizen members (adopted 3/4/2009).

Purpose & Explanation

City Council, staff and members of the Park Board met at a specially scheduled Council workshop on March 21, 2016.  As recorded on the agenda there were three (3) main topics of discussion:

§                     Connectivity

§                     Parks and Golf Operations

§                     Parks Mission Statement

Upon conclusion of the above discussions, it was agreed upon that it would be most beneficial to merge the golf operations under the parks umbrella as an operational and financial efficiency measure.

City staff recommends a gradual sunset of the Golf Advisory Board after which the board will dissolve, at which point the Park Board will take the necessary steps to recruit potential park board members with backgrounds and/or experience with golf courses.  City Council would interview and appoint members as seats become available.

Staff recommends that the sunset of the Golf Advisory Board be effective December 31, 2016.
