Purpose & Explanation
A Request for Proposals for underground conduit and fiber optic cable installation in two of Hudson's business parks was sent out and advertised publicly per the City Charter. The Public Works Department received and reviewed five (5) bids for this service as related to the City broadband project.
Following thorough bid reviews staff is recommending O.C.I. Construction, Inc. as the lowest and best bidder for conduit and fiber optic cable installation services. O.C.I. Construction has performed work for many City projects in the past and has proven to be a quality company for this type of service. A price sheet has been attached for review.
The City Administration is requesting City Council approve and authorize the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with O.C.I. Construction for the Georgetown Road and Hudson Industrial Parkway conduit and fiber optic cable installation. The Staff is requesting a 15% contingency for any unforeseen issues that may arise during construction.
Total Contract amount = $240,183 (145,650-base + 63,205-alternates + 31,328-contingency)
