Executive Summary:  The State of Ohio, through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, administers financial assistance for public recreation purposes, through the Clean Ohio Trails Fund.

Resolution No. 15-188:  City Council approved $800,000 in constructions costs for Phase I of Veterans Trail in the 2016-2020 Five-Year Plan.

Resolution No. 15-206:  City Council approved the application to submit a grant application for the Clean Ohio Trails Fund grant for Phase I of Veterans Trail.

Purpose & Explanation

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has requested a Resolution obligating the City of Hudson’s portion of the construction costs of Phase I of Veterans Trail.  The City has applied for $850,000 in grant funding, on behalf of the Hudson Parks, towards the estimated $1,462,994.50 cost.

Timing Considerations

Resolution obligating funds must be received by August 26, 2016.

Staff recommends that City Council confirm the obligation of the City’s portion of the funding for Phase I of Veterans Trail by Resolution.
