Purpose & Explanation
Over the past three years several City owned properties were reviewed in establishing a compatible location to site a new City Public Works Facility. As Public Works operations provide a very diverse spectrum of City services, it requires a fairly large amount of space and land to operate effectively and efficiently. With land requirements being an important concern, Public Works consultants and staff recommended the facility be sited on the former YDC property. A GIS photo has been included with this document to show the approximate project limits of the project. The site consists of approximately 15 acres. Staff has been instructed and will adhere to keeping the project limits as far to the east end of the property as possible leaving the majority of the land available for future uses.
A project team made up of City staff has been established for this project and the Engineering Department has assisted with the development of the project Request for Qualifications. The Committee now requests permission to release the RFQ and begin the evaluation and selection process.
