Executive Summary: The Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation’s Safety Intervention Grant program is available to any Ohio state-fund or public employer who wishes to purchase equipment to substantially reduce or eliminate injuries and illnesses associated with a particular task or operation.

Purpose & Explanation
The City of Hudson is eligible for up to $40,000 every three years in safety intervention grant funding. The City of Hudson’s Service Division regularly rents a trench box to safely excavate for storm sewer work. The grant would allow the City of Hudson to purchase a trench box using funds from the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation. The Safety Intervention Grant is a 3 to 1 match. The trench box is estimated at approximately $12,000, thereby requiring approximately $3000 in matching funds from the City of Hudson. Staff has included this item in the 2017 proposed budget.
