Body

Legislative History

Resolution 16-78, authorizing a contract with O.C.I. Construction, Inc. for the installation of broadband conduit and fiber optic cable on Georgetown Road and Hudson Industrial Parkway, passed May 17, 2016.

Purpose & Explanation

The City Administration is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to extend the terms of an existing contract with O.C.I. Construction, Inc for underground conduit boring services and fiber-optic cable installation. O.C.I. Construction, Inc. has completed the areas already scheduled on this project. Extending this contract will allow the build and installation process to meet the goals through the remainder of the year. The original bid document gave us the ability to derive unit pricing for the various services needed. O.C.I. Construction, Inc. has agreed to honor those prices for the additional work zones. Administration is requesting an additional $70,000 to complete the above mentioned areas.

Total Contract = $310,118 (original contract $240,183 + term extension $70,000)

Timing Considerations

Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will proceed with underground installations and other fiber services by utilizing O.C.I. Construction, Inc. Staff requests emergency legislation to expedite the additional underground work.
