Purpose & Explanation
In preparation for the 2017 Asphalt Paving program, the Engineering and Public Works Departments reviewed the condition of the existing catch basins over the past several months. The catch basin structures were found to be in worse condition than originally known by the Public Works Department. 24 structures along this segment of Atterbur5y Blvd. will need to be rebuilt or replaced, and this work will need to be performed by a contractor. Public Works staff was not able to complete the required work prior to possible paving in April based on other duties including leaf pick-up and snow plowing. The contracted work is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2017 prior to resurfacing.

The estimated project cost of construction plus 10% contingency is approximately $75,000.
Timing Considerations
Following the review and approval of this Resolution by City Council, the Engineering Department will advertise in the local newspaper and receive bids for this project. Staff will only return to Council if the bids received are in excess of 10% of the Engineer's Estimate; otherwise the City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder.
Fiscal Impact
Currently Budgeted
