Resolution No. 16-190, permission to bid.
Purpose & Explanation
A Request for Proposals for underground conduit and fiber optic cable installation was advertised publicly per the City Charter. The bidding document was developed to give us unit pricing by the use of minimum quantities and to assist us in building the remainder of the business deployment initiative. We can then take this unit pricing and calculate the costs and resources needed for each phase of the project. The Public Works Department received one (1) bid for this service as related to the City broadband project.
The following are estimated quantities needed to complete the build out of the business portion of this project; 6,600 linear feet of directional boring, 8 instances of traffic control/ record/ as-builds/ pre-construction video/ staking, 50 utility excavations and 20 hand hole installations. The areas that will benefit from this phase are portions of the Historic Downtown, Darrow Road corridor, Corporate Drive, Hudson Crossings, and Patriot Parkway.
The City Administration is requesting City Council approve and authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with O.C.I. Construction. The Staff is requesting an amount of $125,328 and a 10% contingency for any unforeseen issues that may arise during construction.
Total Contract amount = $137,860 ($91,080 fiber optic cable installation + 34,248 utility excavations, hand holes, records, fiber installation, staking and maintenance of traffic + 10% contingency)
Timing Considerations
