Purpose & Explanation
The Digger Derrick Truck is used for many facets of maintaining the City's electrical distribution system such as setting electric poles, transformers and lifting materials. The unit being replaced has a 15 year lifecycle and has been in service for 18 years and has exceeded its useful life.
The City Administration is requesting authorization for the City Manager to enter into a purchase agreement with Altec Industries for the purchase of a replacement Digger Derrick Truck by utilizing State Bid Contract number STS 515-800425 in the amount of $220,450. The STS pricing for this vehicle is expected to increase by 4% at the end of May.
Timing Considerations
Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will award and enter into a contract with Altec Industries, 5201 West 84th Street, Indianapolis Indiana for the above amount.
