A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE A. MORGAN BUILDING GROUP FOR THE HUDSON PUBLIC POWER FACILITY SPACE RENOVATION CONSTRUCTION PROJECT. 

Executive Summary:   This project involves the construction services to build office space and perform needed renovations at 1220 Hudson Gate for the relocation of the Hudson Public Power operations.

Resolution No. 16-190 provided permission to seek bids for city materials, supplies and equipment.

Purpose & Explanation

Bids were received on April 4th for the Hudson Public Power Office Space Construction.  Below is the Engineer’s Estimate along with the respective bids.

Engineer’s Estimate: $300,000

The A. Morgan Building Group                     $203,213.00

Lakeland Management Systems, Inc.                     $248,000.00

Veterans Contracting                     $276,354.00

Apex Construction and Management Co. Inc.                     $294,600.00

R. L. Hill Management                     $295,264.00

 

The City Administration is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with The A. Morgan Building Group for the Hudson Public Power Office Space Construction. The Public Works staff is requesting a 10% contingency for any unforeseen issues that may arise during construction.  The total amount would be $223,534.30.

Total Contract = $223,534.30 ($203,213 -base + $20,321.30 contingency)

Timing Considerations

After 30 days from passage of this Resolution and authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will award and enter into a contract with The A. Morgan Building Group for the above amounts.

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that City Council approve this Resolution authorizing the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with The A. Morgan Building Group, P.O. Box 8410, Akron, Ohio 44320 for the construction and renovations of the HPP relocation facility in the amount not to exceed $223,534.30.
