Purpose & Explanation
In April of 2017, the Public Works Department advertised in the local paper along with making contact with various engineering firms for the purpose of soliciting a RFQ/RFP for the engineering and management services needed to perform the Prospect Substation Improvement Project. The engineering firms contacted in addition to the advertisement were Burgess & Niple, Peters, Tschantz & Associates, GPD Group and First Energy.
We received one (1) design RFP and it has been reviewed by staff. The project design and management proposal was submitted by GPD Group in Akron, Ohio. The GPD Group has provided many other engineering services for Hudson Public Power, such as designing various substation improvement projects over the years, and we feel they are more than qualified to perform this work.
The budgeted amount for this project is $2,000,000 in total, which includes the expenses for the design. The expected costs for engineering a project of this nature are around 15% and this proposal is at 12% of the total cost. The following is a list of items this contract will address:
* (1) Walk-in switchgear control building with breakers
* (1) Power transformer
* (6) 69Kv power fuses
* (5) GOAB (gang operated air break)
* (6) voltage regulators
* (3) 69Kv surge arrestors
* ...
