Title

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH WEATHERPROOFING TECHNOLOGIES INC. FOR THE BARLOW COMMUNITY CENTER ROOF REPLACEMENT PROJECT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

Executive Summary:   The Public Works Department is requesting to enter into a contract for the replacement of multiple flat roof areas at the Barlow Community Center.

Body

Legislative History

This project was included within the 2017 Capital Improvements Budget for the Public Properties Division.  Resolution 16-190 authorized staff to seek pricing for the project.

Purpose & Explanation

Two years ago, staff worked closely with a consultant to examine roofing surfaces at Barlow Community Center using thermal imaging technology.  Areas where moisture had penetrated the existing roofing structure were identified and prioritized.  This next step in replacing the roofing sections will take care of the two worst areas that are prone to leakage during normal rain events.  In the attached roof map, these sections are identified as roof areas “D” and “H”.  The replacement of these two flat roof sections will reduce regular ongoing maintenance and repairs in these areas.  Pricing was secured through The Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCPN) Contract pricing R132205-OH-13816.

Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. - $89,815.25

Timing Considerations

The contractor would begin work after the contract is in place and will complete work prior to October.

Fiscal Impact

Recommendation

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that Council approve legislation authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract with Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc., 3735 Green Road Beachwood, Ohio 44122 at a total price of $89,815.25.
