Executive Summary:  This Ordinance amends the Traffic Code to change existing time limits for public street parking in certain downtown areas from 2 hours to 4 hours.  It also addresses a change in parking on Aurora Street.

Ordinance No. 16-116, amended Section 410.09 to add additional 2-hour parking in certain areas of First & Main; passed July 19, 2016.

Purpose & Explanation

Based upon discussions with stakeholder groups, the City administration recommends the Traffic Code be amended to change existing time limits for public street parking in certain downtown areas from 2 hours to 4 hours.  With completion of the North Main Street Improvements Project, a change is needed in Section 410.10 to reflect no parking along the north side of Aurora Street between N. Main and E. Main Streets.

This Ordinance will be effective upon passage by Council.

Recommendation

Suggested Action

Staff recommends passage of this Ordinance to amend the Traffic Code to change existing time limits for public street parking in certain downtown areas from 2 hours to 4 hours and to address a change in parking on Aurora Street.  Staff also recommends this Ordinance be passed as an emergency measure, so that it will be effective immediately upon passage.
