Special Recognition of America Recycles Day 2017
Executive Summary: Mayor Basil will proclaim Wednesday, November 15, 2017, "America Recycles Day" in Hudson, recognizing Hudson's effort to increase the nation's recycling rate. Jeffrey Wells, Chairman of Environmental Awareness Committee (or designee) and Sonya Mottram, Administrative Support Supervisor, will be in attendance to accept this Proclamation.

Purpose & Explanation
America Recycles Day (ARD) was started in 1997 by the National Recycling Coalition and has continued to be a vibrant program through the efforts of the Keep America Beautiful organization. America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encourage all Americans to recycle and purchase recycled products. The national recycling rate is currently 34%. In support of America Recycles Day (ARD), the Keep Hudson Beautiful will encourage residents to become more active in recycling efforts and promote recycling in businesses and residences. Residents are encouraged to take the pledge to learn by understanding materials collected for recycling, to act by reducing personal waste through recycling, and to share by encouraging others to participate in recycling efforts. Keep Hudson Beautiful will also encourage residents to recycle through a social media promotion.
