Resolution No. 17-128 affirmed the City Manager’s application to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for a Firefighter Exposure to Environmental Elements Program Grant; passed August 15, 2017.

Purpose & Explanation

The City of Hudson sought funding assistance for the purchase of a washer-extractor with the capacity for four sets of turnout gear.  The Firefighter Exposure to Environmental Elements Program offered a 5 to 1 matching grant up to $15,000.  The Hudson Fire Department was awarded $9,459.17 towards the $11,351.00 cost of a Continental E-Series EH040 40lb Washer/Extractor.  The City’s match is $1,891.83.

Timing Considerations

The equipment must be ordered within 90 days after the date of the grant check.

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that City Council authorize the City Manager to accept the Firefighter Exposure to Environmental Elements Program funding through the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation on behalf of the Hudson Fire Department.
