Executive Summary:  This is for the purchase of signal poles associated with the signal improvements at the Seasons Road Interchange as part of the larger SUM-8-7.81 Reconstruction Project.

Purpose & Explanation

As part of the SUM-8-7.81 Reconstruction Project, ODOT will be installing traffic signals at the Seasons Road interchange.  The City of Hudson will be purchasing the signal poles with the City of Stow sharing 50% of the cost. The cost estimate for this project is $39,000. This purchase was part of the agreement with ODOT to include these improvements in the overall project.

The City will also execute an agreement with the City of Stow formalizing the splitting of these expenses.  Staff will return to Council for approval of this agreement.

Timing Considerations

Following the approval of this resolution by the City Council, the Engineering Department will advertise, receive bids and award the contract for the procurement of the signal poles.

Recommendation

Suggested Action

Staff recommends that City Council approve this authorization for the City Manager to advertise, receive bids and award a contract to the lowest and best bidder.  Staff is also requesting an emergency clause in order to advertise as soon as possible due to the lead time for the signal poles.
