Title

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 230.03, “EXPENDITURES UP TO ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION AND OTHER EVENTS,” OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES.

Executive Summary:  Repealing Codified Ordinances Section 230.03 will streamline the planning and authorization process for employee recognition and other events in accordance with the annual budget and appropriations approved by Council.

Body

Legislative History

Resolution No. 98-124, authorizing the City Manager to expend up to one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per event to purchase items for employee recognition events; passed on September 2, 1998.

Purpose & Explanation

Limiting expenditures to $1,000 per event as set in 1998 has proved to be a challenge in today’s financial terms; however, rather than increasing the limit, staff is recommending that Section 230.03 be repealed in an effort to streamline the planning and authorization process for employee recognition and other events and to allow the City Manager to authorize such expenditures in accordance with the annual budget and appropriations approved by Council.
