Executive Summary:  This Resolution is to allow Hudson voters to determine whether or not they support funding the capital buildout of a community-wide fiber network through a property tax levy.

Resolution No. 18-65, declaring it necessary to place levy issue on November 6, 2018 ballot; being considered concurrently.

Purpose & Explanation

In considering the Community-Wide Fiber initiative, Council has laid out the following schedule for review and solicitation of public input regarding this matter:

Tues. May 1                     Resolution of Necessity - 1st reading

                     Resolution to place the levy on the ballot - 1st reading

Tues. May 15                     Resolution of Necessity - 2nd reading

                     Resolution to place the levy on the ballot - 2nd reading

Tues. May 22                     Resolution of Necessity - 3rd reading (and passage)

Tues. June 5                     Resolution to place the levy on the ballot - 3rd reading (and passage)

Wed. Aug. 8                     Due date for certification of Res. No. 18-66 to Board of Elections

                     (90 days prior to Election Day)

Tues. Nov. 6                     Election Day
