Purpose & Explanation

Bids were received on April 26, 2018 for the purchase of two (2) 69Kv Circuit Breakers and associated components needed for the second phase of the Prospect Substation Improvement project.   The engineering design firm assisting with this project, GPD analyzed the proposals to make their recommendation on the lowest and best bid for the above mentioned components.

The city administration is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with Alstom GriD LLC for the purchase of the 69Kv Circuit Breakers for the Prospect Substation Improvement project. Staff is recommending Alstom GriD LLC as the lowest bidder. Staff received two complete bids and one incomplete bid. The total cost is $80,680.00 which includes staff training and emergency spare part inventory.  The budget amount for this equipment was $84,000

Total Contract = $80,680 ($73,800 - base + $6,250 training + $630 spare parts)

Timing Considerations

Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will award and enter into a contract with Alstom GriD LLC for the above amount.
