Purpose & Explanation
Throughout the years, the City of Hudson has made great strides in its efforts toward environmental sustainability, and in several areas, is a model of best practices as a steward of the environment for future generations. This government stewardship has included addressing all aspects of environmental efforts, from recycling programs, a solar power training facility to promote the use of alternative energy, aggressive preservation of park land and open space, to the creation of a walkable, bicycle-friendly community to reduce vehicle emissions. These efforts include the creation of the Environmental Awareness Committee to educate on recycling and other environmental issues as directed by Hudson City Council. Another example is Keep Hudson Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, that was formed to promote recycling, reduce litter, and beautify the community. The City's Green on the Green event encourages citizens and youth to participate in environmental conservation and preservation.

According to research by Drawdown, a coalition of researchers, scientists, policy makers, business leaders, here's how some of the solutions Hudson has in place or is planning would affect the environment worldwide.
? Solar Arrays: reduce the CO2 equivalent by 36.90 gigatons.
? Rooftop Solar Programs: 24.6 gigatons reduced.
? Afforestation (planting trees): 18.06 gigatons reduced.
