Purpose & Explanation
Bids were received on August 16, 2018 for the Hudson Drive Waterline Extension Project. Staff bid out the project with two options. Option 1 - Extending the Hudson water system from the Metro RTA railroad tracks, along the Metroparks Hike & Bike Trail and then along Hudson Drive. Option 2 - Extending the Akron water system along Hudson Drive. See attached Exhibit A for further reference.
Staff is recommending Council go with Option 1, extension of the Hudson waterline from the Metro RTA railroad tracks, along the Metroparks Hike & Bike Trial and Hudson Drive. Below is the Engineer's Estimate along with the respective bids.
Engineer's Estimate: Option 1 (Hudson) = $633,380.00
Lockhart Concrete Company $469,502.50
Precise Boring of Ohio $539,862.00
M. Campbell Contracting, LLC $584,714.00
The Engineering Staff is requesting a 10% construction contingency for any unforeseen issues that may arise during construction. The total amount would be construction contract would be $516,452.75.
Total Construction Contract = $516,452.75 ($469,502.50-base + $46,950.25-contingency)
Staff is also requesting funds to cover the costs associated with the following items:
Metro RTA Pipeline Occupancy Agreement - $10,500
Metro RTA Railroad Inspection - $5,000 (estimated)
Ohio Edison Easement Purchase - $24,500
