Purpose & Explanation
In an effort to better tailor the marketing of Velocity Broadband to the Hudson business community, staff is asking for the approval to enter into a marketing services contract at an hourly rate of $65 per hour. The workload will vary on a month to month basis, but we anticipate an average of 10 hours per week.
The City staff would like to improve the marketing efforts for Velocity Broadband in order to add more businesses to the City broadband system. After working with three other local firms, staff had the opportunity to work with a local marking consultant, Pivot Marketing and Sales, in 2018. Their sales and marketing expertise resulted in an almost immediate change in marketing strategy and deliverable results.
Having a knowledgeable and responsive marketing professional "in-house" has enabled staff to focus on our technical support and customer service. The marketing over the past year has provided quantifiable new customer inquiries and service requests from businesses. During this time, we have had a 7% increase in new customers since July 2018.
This request for marketing services would enable staff to maintain the marketing momentum and develop and deliver a finalized marketing plan for the system. These services would commence immediately. As part of this contract, the following deliverables will be provided to staff on or before May 1, 2019.
