Body
Legislative History
Resolution 17-200, Permission to bid and/or obtain competitive pricing.
Purpose & Explanation
The material contract was publicly bid via BidExpress in October. No bids were received due to the volatility of the salt market. The City contacted our current vendor, Univar and they were able to provide a price for delivery, but not guarantee delivery or quantities within a specific time. The Public Works Department contacted various salt suppliers to seek interest in providing pricing for this product and were unsuccessful in securing such interest.
Public Work's Estimate:
Univar $180.00 per ton delivered

The City Administration is requesting City Council approval to authorize the City Manager to award and enter into an agreement with Univar for Rock Salt for the Water Treatment Plant. The total amount would be $110,000, as proposed in the 2019 budget.
Timing Considerations
Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will award and enter into an agreement with Univar for the above amounts. The contract term is for one (1) year from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019.
