A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE TOBACCO 21 (T21) INITIATIVE OF THE SUMMIT COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO RAISE THE MINIMUM AGE OF TOBACCO SALES IN THE CITY OF HUDSON TO 21.

Brief Description:  Tobacco 21 (T21) is an initiative by the Summit County Public Health Department (SCPH) to raise the minimum age of tobacco sales to 21.

This initiative was presented to City Council in May 2018 and discussed further at the September 11, 2018, workshop.

Purpose & Explanation

Passage of a T21 ordinance would raise the age of tobacco sales in Hudson to 21 and allow the SPCH to enforce the provisions of the ordinance.

Attached to this file are the handouts from the prior presentation.  The “Process Map for Implementation” gives a detailed summary of how the program would be rolled out and enforced.

According to tobacco21.org, there are 425+ cities and counties in 23 states that have raised the age to 21.  <https://tobacco21.org/state/ohio/>
