Title

Step 2 Review of Land Development Code - Commercial Development Focus

Brief Description:  Discussion regarding Step 2 Review of the City’s Land Development Code, with Commercial Development focused amendments to be considered in 2020.

Body

Legislative History

Step 1 Review of the Land Development Code amendments focused on administrative revisions and were approved by City Council on October 15, 2019, per Ordinance No. 18-93.

Step 2 Review of Land Development Code - Commercial Focus, discussed on March 10, 2020.

Purpose & Explanation

The first review of the full Land Development Code (LDC) was in Spring of 2018.  City Council determined at that time, June 15, 2018, to separate the Code review into three (3) steps.  Step 1 Review, including administrative changes, was fully considered and finally adopted on October 15, 2019, and the amendments became effective November 14, 2019.

At the City Council Meeting on February 5, 2019, the City Council directed the administration that the following would be considered in the future as part of a separate request of City Council:

Step 2 Review: proposed amendments to Commercial and Business Land Uses.

Step 3 Review: proposed amendments to Residential Land Uses.

Staff has submitted the proposed generalized timeline to allow for consideration and adoption of possible amendments by November 2020.
