Brief Description:  The project will include the installation of pedestrian signal improvements to the crosswalk at N. Main Street, Park Lane and Church Street.  This project was included in the 2020 Capital Budget, Fund 430.

Purpose & Explanation

This project will include the design and construction of rectangular, rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs) at the crosswalk with high pedestrian crossing volumes on at N. Main Street, Park Lane and Church Street.

The estimated project cost of construction plus 10% contingency is approximately $30,000. The City staff will return to City Council if the bids are in excess of 10% of the Engineer’s estimate.

The installation of the RRFBs is scheduled for summer, 2020.

Staff recommends that City Council approve this authorization for the City Manager to advertise, receive bids, and enter into a contract for the proposed Park Lane at N. Main Street (SR 91) Crosswalk Enhancements project.
