A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT WITH CROWN CASTLE FIBER, LLC FOR INCREASING BANDWIDTH CAPABILITY.

Purpose & Explanation

Velocity Broadband is currently contracted with the Crown Castle Fiber, LLC (formerly Lightower Fiber Networks) at $2,880 per month for internet service.  As the City’s customer base continues to grow and the increasing demand for additional bandwidth and dedicated service provisions, we are at the threshold where we must procure more bandwidth.

With the need for expanded service continuing to be a factor, staff wishes to expand and upgrade our current service to 3Gbps.  Upgrading to a 3Gbps service will costs an additional $570 per month for a total contract price of $3,450. This pricing agreement will be for a three (3) year term.

The new monthly rate of $3,450 is below the state term vendor pricing for such service as listed on Ohio DAS MSA0004.

Timing Considerations

Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will amend the existing contract with Crown Castle Fiber Networks, LLC.
