Purpose & Explanation
Bids were received on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 for the 2016 Asphalt Resurfacing Program. Below is the Engineer’s Estimate along with the respective bids.
Engineer’s Estimate: $1,083,722.85
Ronyak Paving, Inc. $896,886.76
Perrin Asphalt $965,274.68
Carron Asphalt Paving, Inc. $1,032,726.18
Barbicas Construction Company, Inc. $1,090,534.89
Cross-Road Asphalt Recycling, Inc. $1,117,693.40
Chagrin Valley Paving $1,246,129.68
The total bid of $896,886.76 is broken down as follows:
Asphalt Resurfacing and Asphalt Overlay = $721,545.10 (General Fund)
Hudson Springs Park Bike Path = $175,341.66 (Parks Fund)
In addition to the above work, the contract will include:
Additional Asphalt Resurfacing Street/Asphalt Overlay = $187,545.81 (General Fund)
Resurfacing of the entrance driveways at Barlow Farm Park = $196,387.60 (Parks Fund)
Total Contingency Amount = $128,082.02
The Total amount of the above items = $1,408,902.19.
The City Administration is also asking for an appropriation for the installation of the Hudson Springs Park Bike Path and the resurfacing of the entrance driveways at Barlow Farm Park in the amount of $408,902.19.
Timing Considerations
Upon authorization to proceed by the City Council, the administration will award and enter into a contract with Ronyak Paving, Inc. for the above amounts.

X Supplemental Appropriation Required ($408,902.19-205 parks fund)

Suggested Action
Staff recommends that City Council approve this Resolution authorizing the City Manager to award and enter into a contract with Ronyak Paving, Inc. for the above amounts and we are requesting an emergency clause be added to this legislation in order to maintain the public health and welfare.
