Executive Summary: The purpose of the Fire Prevention & Safety Grant Program is to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire and fire-related hazards by assisting fire prevention programs and supporting firefighter health and safety research and development. The City has accepted a grant of $47,048.00, and there is a matching obligation of $2,352.00.

Purpose & Explanation
The Hudson Fire Department was awarded a $47,048.00 Fire Prevention & Safety Grant. The City’s match is $2,352.00. The grant funds will be used for smoke detectors, hearing impaired smoke detectors and residential key security boxes for fire prevention programming aimed at the at-risk senior citizen population and other qualifying residents.
Timing Considerations
Grant notification was received on September 10, 2018. The grant period of performance is August 22, 2018 through August 21, 2019. Training, marketing of the program and purchase of supplies must begin as soon as possible.
